Renting timezones: the system after Entosis

People believe that the recently proposed Sov changes will "finally" end renting. They consider renting as bad due to offering space to people without fighting. I (and all the renters) love renting for exactly that: it's based on business cooperation.

Literally anyone can be a PvP-er: you fit a point to any ship, go to low/nullsec, die, type "gf" and that's it, you're officially a PvP-er. So - despite the delusions of grandeur of PvP-ers - renters didn't fail taking space, they aren't interested. They want to do PvE and live in nullsec and ready to pay for it. As long as there will be people who want to live in null without PvP and people who want to PvP without ratting, there will be renting: it's a match made in heaven for them.

Now the question is: how can you rent a system when those who live there must fight every damn frigate that goes there as it might have an Entosis link and take it from you? Even worse: how do you rent if the landlord can't even fight for the land as he is in another alliance?! Most people believe it's impossible, but it's not. The key is that the new system gives only a 4-hours window for attacks. It's necessary, since losing all your assets while asleep isn't a great game. Outside of that 4-hours window, the system is perfectly safe, so perfectly rent-able.

The solution is simply renting out the other timezone. The renters and the owners live in the same space, which is under the landlord tag. The different renter corps under the light blue renter alliance have their own respective systems and one restriction: they must be offline during the 4-hours window and 1-2 hours before and after it. If they are not, they can be shot for being a likely awoxer. In this window, the landlords rat and respond to the threats. There will be some systems where the renters cannot go, because the landlords who "play" more than 6-8/hours a day use it. But most Sov will be rented out for the off hours.

This way the landlord don't have to worry about industry and ratting indices, they increase while he is asleep.

PS: renting is much better than PvP-ing in a failfit bling ship! Or another. Or even more.

PS2: epic tears from Wax Heretic, who is likely the alt of the one who had a carrier.

Of course I'd prefer pretty screenshots with spaceships in the background, but I guess when he'll get banned on all accounts for real life threats (and for being a gorilla), we'll know it's real.

. . . wow. Seriously.

Now I have to go look this guy up and see if I should talk to FA about proper douching so they don't get bloody pus-filled infections like him hanging around.

Remember how I keep saying 'thanks for killing our idiots'? Thank you for this. What a tool.

Renters will continue on as they do now actually. Just put up their tower (or dock in the station) and work the system. Any of them touch the entosis thing, they'll be evicted same as any invader. They'll still be useful as scouts and extra cannon fodder as well if they're interested (for discounts, they might be.) The safe won't exactly be safe though. Station services, towers, pocos and ships in space are still vulnerable.

The sov stuff is pretty much worthless to go after unless you really want to live there. TCU? Are fuel savings so important that you want your name on it? IHUB? Does your system need upgrades/Do you mind building/hauling in another one when it explodes? The only sov structure actually worth much is the station. (IHUB's only useful in a system that doesn't have much going for it and very heavy for upgrades too)

I think that many systems are going to be blank of sov junk but have folks living in them.

Capitals/Supers will still be useful in clearing these things out... but people are forgetting about these heavy hp structures aren't they? Too busy focused on trollceptors :P

This will explain what he is saying:

It will not explain why he pastes it in the first place though.

Gotta point out that his speech is a 'copypasta', a kind of internet meme. One posts it in an attempt to express anger and to lampshade the futility of said anger at the same time.

renters will stay, but the big renting empires will get in trouble.
those hundreds of systems cant be controled anymore.
they will get continously attacked and it will not get defendable.

To my mind, renters are not part of the equation. CUrrently, they don't own sovereignty, nor station. Tomorrow, they won't either and renting empires will still keep owning structures.
What will change is that renting empires will proably not be able to defend that much space. Thus, space will change owner more regularly. The question is: will renting empire be able to flip them back fast enough before the renters go elsewhere or will small alliance be able to break empire and gather land ?
In the latter, will they accept renters or will they keep the systems for themslves ? That's another question, but I have an idea of the outcome.

Renters are people who want a system but not to fight for it. The proposed changes are making null's sov system be friendlier to smaller groups, which might just end up causing smaller groups to become landlords to smaller territories.

Gevlon you dafty he is fakeposting. This is a well-known routine and I can barely believe that you fell for it: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/navy-seal-copypasta

Gevlon said...

@Endie: we'll see if the CCP guys will take the "I was just kidding" line. Hint: they won't. They guy is out of EVE.

You should teach your minions manners, because every time they behave badly, they'll end up here for some visibility.

It certainly seems like a death threat to me.

Here's one instance when you would have benefitted from studying the culture of the so-called 'lollers'.

Like it or not, memes of various stripes are an integral part of internet communication.

Renters fight for their systems all the time... No sov holding alliance will respond enforce to anything that isn't a threat to sov... i.e. 99%+ of the hostiles in any renters space.

I keep hoping this new sov system will force local garrisons. 20-30 people stationed in a constellation with a few fc's. You might end up with a feudal type system where power can be concentrated into the hands of regional leaders. I just think it would be epic to watch cfc implode when some goon horde crosses the rubicon.

Endie said...

@Gevlon I seriously doubt if he will get banned, since it is a well-known meme. And how can you call it "epic tears" when the bloke is clearly, transparently, obviously taking the mickey with a copypasta?

Gevlon said...

@Endie: because CCP can't allow people to make death threats using a meme.

For anyone not knowing the idiot meme (and how could he), it looks a serious death threat (as far as internet threats go).

Renters are a half and half group, you get some who will happily fight and you get others who just can't be bothered. It really depends on who they are, where they are, what the space is they are in and ofcourse who the gang is.

Coming from a renter background(No longer) small gangs we were happy to engage, sometimes we succeeded , other times we didn't, we had fun though. However on many occasions we had groups turn up, Tri, BL, MOA etc who turned up in gangs much bigger than we could field. Then they bitched and moaned because we blueballed them. we weren't stupid, putting 10 to 15 (T1/Faction/Odd T2) ships against a gang of 30+ T2/3 seasoned pilots with batfone support? that's not what I would call fun. One of the big arguments that gets thrown at renters is "Your too scared to fight" or "Risk-averse" Actually it couldn't be further from the truth, we just don't bother throwing ships at a fight for the sake of giving some moron in another ship an easy kill.

Remember each to their own in a Sandbox, If you have an issue with pilots making their own decisions on their careers, then don't let the door hit you in the arse as you unsub. Renters will continue to play the game, how they like it, with their communities. Because at the end of the day, what renters do in a Sandbox to generate their own content, is exactly what CCP envisioned for Eve Online as a Sandbox. And that goes equally for you as well.

By my numbers, you are about to become a CSM Rep. This means your personally stated opinions are about to get more scrutiny.

As a CSM rep, you only will have so much 'oxygen'/good will/political capital (whatever term you want to use).

Do you really want to spend your time justifying why real life death threats are acceptable?

Just gotta point out that the Golem isn't fail fitted at all. It's really pretty nasty, for a solo PvP ship.

Of course, it could be argued that trying to solo PvP in EVE, especially in nullsec and in range of your enemies' home system, is a fail in itself, but that's a whole other story.

Yeah.. I saw this immediately and knew it was a copypasta.

99% he does not get banned. If he got reported by Static, he may be warned but this is such an obvious fake tears post that there is no way anyone could believe it was real. A 10 second google search of any given line of that would pull up the navy seal tough guy copypasta.
