Weekend minipost: maybe playerunknown's battleground?

Shooter genre - not really my thing.
No permanent results - kind of "for fun"
Alpha/Early access - I promised that I won't touch any of those.
But they handled this rule breaking streamer so perfectly that I must give them some support. I look up some more info and if you have some personal account, please share. A game that enforces the rules is quite a sight in 2017.

It currently seems to be the one getting the buzz.

I'm having a blast playing that game. Playing solo is one of the most high tension game experiences I have had since Half-Life 2.

Squad play is hit or miss, since, you know, you have to deal with people.

The game is still in Alpha. There are some quirks with the vehicle physics. But overall it is a lot of fun. It's a little pay-to-lose since having graphics turned up to maximum puts you at a little disadvantage.

I believe there are leaderboards, for what that's worth.

There's a bit to consider for strategy. Mostly when/where to jump from the starting airplane and choosing whether to camp the edge of the circle or go to the center asap.

Be aware that you need a good computer to run it however. I have a 4.6GHz quad core i5 and a GTX1070 yet I barely get 60FPS on the lowest settings.

I know you only started recently using you Steam so you might not be aware of this but if you dislike the game you should be able to get a full refund. Your playtime has to be less than 2 hours and it must be less than 2 weeks since you bought the game. Not so much time but it does help when seeing if these early access games are good.

I play it regularly and their handling of this case has definitely improved my confidence in the team.

The game has an ELO(?) rating system that matched you with other players of the same skill level.

I gotta say, I really like the basic core design of this game. You're a solo player in a PvP free for all environment where as long as you're a survivor... which, by definition is the entire time you're in the match, you're "winning."

If you die, you get back into a new match. No sitting around in a losing match because your loser team is feeding the enemy (For example.)

So I have to wonder, and this is a question for those that have played the "team" aspect... what is the point of that? The only advantage I can think of to be on a "team" is to use it as an exploit so you can use your team mates as human shields.

If you decide to play it make sure you disable in game voice chat immediately. In my first game I got to enjoy 99 people simultaenously screaming in the starting airplane.

Smoker,

The "Squad" game is a bit harder, the item drop rate is actually lower than in the solo game. You usually cannot kill players on the other team outright, you have to knock them out first, then you can kill them. If all the players on one team are knocked out, they all die then. Knocked out players can be revived by teammates, coming back with very little health.

The advantages. You have other than having other sets of eyes looking out for enemies. Vehicles are more useful, as the passengers can shoot and engage enemies. Taking buildings is a bit easier since clearing rooms with two players is easier than doing it solo. etc.

For being "corrupt devs that rig their game" the Albion devs are also quite keen on enforcing their rules:

@Anon: read your own linked post. They banned credit card fraudsters and those who bought gold from them, not botters and especially not gold speculators.
