How big is Mordus Angels?

Important: CSM election has started, go and vote! I updated my candidate list with last minute trolls candidates.

I keep getting the comment that it's unfair to compare Mordus Angels to Forsaken Asylum or other highsec mercs, since they have 1300 members while the highsec mercs have only 2-300. This is wrong for two reasons. The first is simple: nothing (but drama and egos) stop highsec mercs to grow bigger. EVE is a game of numbers, if your enemy/competitor shovels more bodies into ships, you can cry all day, but you still lost. I would love a highsec merc alliance that is created by merging all the big names and would gladly give them even the 15B/week blood money Tora demanded because that juggernaut could literally lock out CFC (including RvB) from highsec. Will it ever happen? No, because Merc1 hates Merc2 more than he loves kills and ISK. But if you choose to be small and choose to not share an alliance ticker with Joe-who-called-me-noob-in-2008, live with the consequences!

But there is a more interesting thing in the numbers. I grabbed the 2015 Jan, 2014 Dec, Nov and Oct downloaded CFC loss reports and checked for pilots and corporations within MoA. In these 4 months, MoA killed 638B CFC and this is de-whored number! I mean if a 100B Goon titan was killed by a Black Legion fleet with some MoA doing 1% of the damage, they get 1B damage booked, not 100! Please note that only the CFC kills are processed, so if a MoA pilot killed some random dude, it's not in the data.

Let's see the top MoA corporations and their kills in the last 4 months:
Dissident Aggressors: 127B
MASS A DEATH: 122B
Nullbear Tear Extractors: 84B, note: left MoA on 2014-11-03
Tellurian Works: 32B
Los Primitivos: 28B, note: joined MoA on 2014-11-23
Blackwater USA Academy: 27B, note: joined MoA on 2014-10-20
Delta vane Corp.: 27B
Under Heavy Fire: 25B
PiU PiU oLoLo I am driver UFO: 21B
Foundation Cutting-Edge: 19B
shadow and cloaking: 13B
DAB: 13B, note: joined MoA on 2014-11-21
Zeura Brotherhood: 12B, note: joined MoA on 2014-11-06
20th Legion: 12B, note: joined MoA on 2014-10-24
Angels and Demons Inc.B: 12
These corps did 572B damage to CFC out of the 638.

I calculated the de-whored damage of the individual pilots and sorted them. Below you can see how the top 50, second 50 and so on pilots performed:
92% of the damage is done by the top 200 pilots. 540 pilots got on any CFC kill reports over the 4 months. So we can conclude that MoA isn't bigger than the highsec mercs, just doesn't clear inactives and low performers.

Finally, let's see the top 50 MoA pilots:
Komiser Kemal: 18.2B
Neok1337: 15.5B

PS: Look, another addition to the MoA scalp collection! And one more, without local rep or buffer!
Bombers bar killed 3 goon ratting carriers (1, 2, 3) and posted videos of it (1, 2, 3). Good job Bombers!

I doubt anyone has denied that MOA is good at killing expensive AFK ratting ships. And since their (again sensible) policy seems to be to only engage in fights when they are nearly sure of victory their killboards will be nice.

Two things you might consider though.
1: Comparing them to highsec mercs is just plain unrealistic.
MOA's targets are expensive ships, often unpiloted at the time they engage. Highsec mercs have to catch people who are at least nominally paying attention and often fly far cheaper ships. They might get the occasional idiot freighter, but the number of AFK ratters far outstrips those.

2. You still seem to think that MOA's activities are causing actual losses to the CFC. Have you ever considered that maybe what they are doing is ensuring less profit? If someone scams you out of 100M every month, will you consider that month a loss, or just that you've made slightly less more money?
The income from holding sov is quite high, even for individual members. I've known people who rake in about 1B / day in afk ratting. If they lose 5 2B ships in a month they still make quite a large profit in that month.

Nice analysis.
Although I have no positive feelings for MoA, I do respect their efficiency at killing (mostly) afk ratters.
I think your conclusion about mercs being prissy princesses is quite right and it just goes to show how worthless this bunch of scammers are.
If they complain that they won't find juicy targets in highsec then they are not worth one single ISK because then they are just lazy fucks who do not actively hunt, but just siphon at some gates.

why does CCP not ban afk? "I've known people who rake in about 1B / day in afk ratting." this is just horrible.
EVE has no need for bots, just being afk seems to be working perfectly fine.

So. what makes EVE oh so good and engaging? can't be combat.

Has nothing to do with bots. When they say AFK, a person ratting in an Ishtar warps to anomaly, drops drones, then player walks away doing something else for 20-25 minutes while his drones kill all the NPC rats, then he comes back, rinse and repeat, if his ships is still alive. MOA gets 95% of their kills off these guys. If the player gave two shits they'd stay at their computer and react when a neut comes into system but they make more than enough isk to compensate for losses.

the ishtar sits there. drones auto agress. that is the very definition of a bot. CCP build but still. no user input until the field is dead. place mtu gg.
that's bad. very bad. as bad as mining lasers autocycle.

yes you can give the risk mantra. doesn't matter .. the people give a shit, drop the next ship in belt/anom and do laundry or what ever .. and the ship is payed of within minutes. So a loss doesn't matter at all.

afk anything even with risk is very bad. it's the very same as afk wow bgs or follow heal in lfr.

"1b a day afk" how is this not harmful. please explain.

PiU PiU oLoLo I am driver UFO

Really? Someone chose this for the name of their corp? And then other people joined that corp?

The technical term for this is "Bad game design" If CCP did what basically EVERY other company does... log you off after X minutes of being inactive... their bad design would be exposed.

Its great to see that cfc peeps think that moa is irrelevant. That way moa can continue to kill them.
