Guide: Industrial ships

If you have more volume that fits into a Transport Tengu, you need an industrial ship. Typically we are talking about 50k m3, 1-3B visible cargo or same volume, expensive cargo double-wrapped. You'll usually be ignored if you fit your ship right. Still, don't overhaul double wrapped if you couldn't bear the loss or if there is a way for gankers know what you are hauling (if you just bought something expensive in the middle of nowhere, they'll knew). Also, it's dumb to not sort the cargo and use a Tengu on the small but expensive part. Unlike with freighter hauling, 0.5, 0.6 security systems aren't particularly dangerous for you if you fit your ship properly. Tornado gankers are more likely in the hubs and nearby gates.

The most important fitting of industrials is the 50MN microwarpdrive which protects them from bumping and also greatly decrease warpoff time. You press warp to the next gate, turn on hardeners and the MWD, then turn it off. It'll cycle once and when it's over, you'll warp. However you can be bumped in this phase because you are accelerating slowly and your speed is still low. This case don't try to realign, because you'll be slowing down again. Instead, use the stop key first to stop attempting to warp and doubleclick in space toward the direction you are already being bumped this way you'll quickly reach top speed (6-800 m/s) and make further bumps nearly impossible. Then with doubleclicks start turning in a circle until you are more or less aligned to your target. Warp then:

The best tanked hauler is this Impel:

[Impel, Perfect]
Damage Control II
Imperial Navy 800mm Steel Plates
Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Energized Armor Layering Membrane II
Energized Armor Layering Membrane II
Armor Thermic Hardener II
Cap Recharger II
50MN Quad LiF Restrained Microwarpdrive

Medium Trimark Armor Pump II
Medium Trimark Armor Pump II

With full high grade Slave implants, HG-1005, MC-805 it has 220K EHP, making Tornado gankers ignore you unless you do something extraordinarily stupid, like hauling PLEX-es openly. However it has very high skillpoint demand to work. Transport ships 5 and all armor compensation 5 needed for full tank effect. Also, it warps slowly, due to no place for Ascendancy implants. Before you can fly it perfectly, or if you never haul very expensive things and prefer warp speed, go with the much less skill-intensive version:

[Impel, Hull]
Internal Force Field Array I
Reinforced Bulkheads II
Reinforced Bulkheads II

Reinforced Bulkheads II
Reinforced Bulkheads II
50MN Y-T8 Compact Microwarpdrive
[empty med slot]
[empty high slot]
[empty high slot]
Medium Transverse Bulkhead II
Medium Transverse Bulkhead II

If you trained Gallente industrial first (typical choice, due to specialized haulers), you can fit an Occator similarly:

[Occator, Hull]
Reinforced Bulkheads II
Reinforced Bulkheads II
Reinforced Bulkheads II
Reinforced Bulkheads II
Reinforced Bulkheads II
Damage Control II
50MN Microwarpdrive II
Cap Recharger II
Upgraded EM Ward Amplifier I
[empty high slot]
[empty high slot]
Medium Transverse Bulkhead II
Medium Transverse Bulkhead II

I generally don't recommend using Caldari or Minmatar transports, since they don't have enough powergrid to fit enough extenders plus MWD, but if you can't fly anything else, use a shield tank (not active). There is one exception though: if you are running distribution missions (for standings, please don't run them for that horrible ISK) and you only need to avoid grief-gankers as your cargo is worthless (but you ascendancy implants are not):

[Mastodon, Autopilot]
Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Overdrive Injector System II
Limited Hyperspatial Accelerator
Large Shield Extender II
Thermic Dissipation Amplifier II
Kinetic Deflection Amplifier II
Explosive Deflection Amplifier II
Large Shield Extender II
[empty high slot]
[empty high slot]
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I

Gallente has specialized industrials (Epithal: PI, Kyros: mineral, Miasmos: ore) that help you start your career. They have similar slot layout, so I show only one. Please note that you are not supposed to use these ships after you can fly a transport as even with optimal fitting, they have like 25K EHP, so they really shouldn't fly around with expensive cargo:

[Epithal, PI]
Damage Control II
Power Diagnostic System II
Power Diagnostic System II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II
10MN Afterburner II
Large Shield Extender II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II

You forgot to mention a very nice benefit of DST (and Orcas, too):
Assemble a shuttle or T1 scan frigate with max cargo fitting, put a BPO or PLEX or implants into the shuttle / frigate.
Put shuttle /frigate with cargo (yes, that works) into DST fleet hangar.
Try cargoscan the DST.
You'll see a shuttle, but not what's inside the shuttle. Could be 1000 BPO. Could be nothing.

Best camouflage to move your BPO collection worth several billion ISK?
Orca, mining warfare links in highslots, hull tank, ore hold full of Scordite, 2 Procurer in SMB, several mining crystals in cargo, some assembled shuttles full of your BPO in fleet hangar.
They will scan you - they won't agress you because "totaly not worth it!"

@Dunamis: it does if you keep running it. But try just one cycle. You can't fit MJD and MWD together due to low powergrid

@Smuggler: a courier contract package is easier. Also, why would I haul BPOs in a DST or Orca when I have a Tengu?

You wouldn't but I can't fly a tengu so if I wanted to move bpo or plex I might try that. Of course I wouldn't use mining equipment and no code permit either through their territory.

This is why I use multiple journeys to cargo tank when I am moving a dangerously high value cargo ie split it up to safe loads.

I think You're underselling the Mastodon, it can fit a large shield extender mwd and a nice rack of hardeners with 110k ehp cold and 170k hot all without any expensive mods or implants.

Provided you stay at the keyboard it's fantastic entry level option.

Valid guide!

Furthermore, the how to respond to bumping graphic is excellent.

These things, exactly stuff of this quality need to be put into official EVE tutorials. New player do not get enough EVE mechanics explained. A game, where players need to find out the mechanics for themselves is simply terribly designed.
IT is like playing cards with other people who explain the rules to you on the run... You won't be successfull at all...

Train Afterburner to IV, then use an 10MN AB. You'll be able to warp in 8 seconds after a single activation of the prop mod.

If a bumper hits you once, you'll be bumped forever without MWD.

I don't autopilot and use a Mastodon while training for the Tengu. Why not a medium micro jump drive instead of the MWD? I have an EM-705 implant so I jump in 12s vs. 10. Can a bumper run you down fast enough after you jump 100 km?
