The dedicated few

On Mar. 27, 9 raiders were online, 2 healers, 2 tanks. As I wrote, since we can't raid, we disband. But then, Tazar came up a great backup idea: The dedicated few.

As always, the group composition was far from perfect. Obviously 2 classes must be missing if we go 8-man, but also we had 2 DKs, 2 warriors, 2 priests. This made Gluth pretty nasty (finally the DPS DK kited after respeccing into desecration. We couldn't kill Maexxna, due to no one can cleanse poison (and she has a -90% healing poison), plus we were unlucky since in the enrage phase she always grabbed one of our healers.

Logs here, before you'd laugh on my DPS, note that the log still lists my water elemental as "creature" and not as a pet. The fights were rather slow than hard. If no one puts slime to the floor, no one stands with positive charge among the negative ones, no one DPSing the wrong gargolyle they go down. Naxx is easy, and Naxx8 is really an emergency plan for the guild. I hope we soon can do something more complicated.

While we were raiding, more and more people came online, and saw several lowbies an gear-collecting members, so there is definitely future. Next week if we have 2 tanks, 3 healers, 5 DPS, we finish Ulduar (with Mimiron staying out), if we have 2 tanks, 2 healers, 4 DPS, we finish dedicated few.

About the nonsense "gather BiS": Irix (our new disc priest, doing great job) got her 50 emblems achievement halfway in Naxx. So she surely farmed gear for ages. It fits very well to the project, as the point is to prove without doubt that no form of "no life" farming is needed to raid. Only brain needed, and the "anti-sociality" to kick those who lack it or refuse to use it.

Raiders can invite, so if you want to join and see as the WotLK content is cleared without a single epic gear piece (except engi self-head), just roll a char on Arathor-EU-horde or transfer there and ask for an invite from someone. Also, if you are in the project and frequent on some forums, sites, spread the word, both about Undergeared and the Ganking project.

PS: completely unrelated, but hilarious: there was a bug with cluster launchers, as they were inpassable objects (some 72 hours ban were distributed).

Yeah. Don't give up.
Wait till 30% ICC buff, then you effectively gonna have ilvl 260 blues there.
Then really nothing should stop you from clearing at least ICC10 normal.

Out of curiosity, why do you make the exception for the engineering head? Is it an inside joke or is it just too fantastic to ignore?

While it looks like everyone put in a solid performance, I'm still not seeing how you're going to get through ICC. Adding in a fifth dps'er, and scaling the numbers by 30% puts your numbers around 26-27k dps (based on the Patchwerk fight). That's well short of what you need to put Festergut down before he enrages. Are you counting on Blizzard to nerf it even more?

IIRC, the exception for the engineering head is because it's considered a crafting bonus, similar to JC-only gems - you need to level engineering to get it, and then maintain engineering to use it.

@Wilson: add also some group synergy. Like a shaman with BL. A paladin with BoW/BoM. Replenishment! (I used mage armor and had to clear AB at 3).

And YES, I believe they nerf poor Arthas to the "LF5M 2 tankz 3 helz 6.5K GS need" level

Priests can cleanse poison, by the way. They just need to spec into 'Body and Soul' in the Holy tree.

@Gevlon -

That's the nerf that you predicted in December would come in February? You were completely wrong with that prediction, and I don't see any reason to believe you are right now. Blizzard has laid the groundwork for a 30% nerf, but they don't appear to be in any hurry to get to it. Assuming that they are going to nerf it even more, with absolutely no evidence, strikes me as nothing more than wishful thinking.

I expect that's why you've had trouble hanging on to some of your raiders - they can do the math as well as I, and they saw that the cause was lost.
