No more morons

Sorry, I am done with morons/mean guys of the week. It was a huge grind to read 50-100 mails, finding those which are actually funny, contain any kind of proof (like recount for the moron), and readable screenshots (people love to send 10kB JPGs). After that I had to check everything in the armory to prevent forgeries (many sent, mostly to name and shame someone the sender hated or to undermine the credibility of the blog). After that I had to make the format and upload the picture and set the link.

It used to be funny, but now it's just 2-3 hours of wasting my time. So no more morons/means, don't send more.

If someone finds it funny, set up a forum where everyone can send their screenshots/stories. I gladly link it.

As a farewell-moron, check this link, that proves that the specimens could come eternally.

Since there is low traffic on weekends, I won't make weekend posts, see you on Monday!

  1. What a shame, I've run into so many fun tanks recently. The paladin who insisted it was fine to cast exorcism while tanking, on the grounds of "chill dude". The geared-out druid who managed to wipe us in regular UP by pulling as many fearing mobs as possible.

What's Saturday and Sunday now? Maybe you could do Smart and Hardworking People of the Week.

  4. Well, with the popularity of the blog increasing, I'm sure he felt really tired of the moron grind. I'm rather sad that no replacement column is written though.

  5. Most awesome thing about that link is that two of the Arthasdk characters are hunters!

  6. for some reason the WoW Headlines RSS feed doesn't carry your column on the weekends. maybe that has some affect on your weekend traffic?

  7. A day later after I send one in as well, what bad timing I have. :(

  8. Gevlon, admit it, were you one of those goblins that bought the sea-side properties in Tanaris the devs mentioned in their most recent chat? Made me chuckle.

I am gonna miss the meanies & the badies, but I guess every story runs its' course... Enjoy your weekend(s) :)

  13. Thank god! It was funny the first two times but after that it was just repeat after repeat after repeat. I'm sure a lot of people felt licensed to treat other people worse than usual just because the existence of this column too.

  14. So without Morons of da week, does it mean that it will be "Goblinish philosphy" the entire week?

  15. I like this one http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Talnivarr&cn=Arthasdk

    He isn't 71/0/0, does 69/2/0 count? :)

If you want something to do on the weekends, join an Undergeared project, US or EU

  16. Good call. I've long since stopped reading these. No point wasting your time. I do always read whatever I've missed by Monday, though, so if you have an idea for a weekend column you don't need to worry it won't be read.

  17. You lost a lot.It was favourite column of many pepole. It will be hard to find any replacement for that. I miss it.

  18. I check your blog every day, and I have to admit the Morons/Means was some nice spice to go with the main dish. I'll keep coming back to read new posts, though. :)

  19. Morons/Meanies got old pretty quick, and I have to wonder if others felt the same way, hence leading to your lower weekend numbers.

  20. Maybe you could start with a new apprentice, and use saturday or sunday to post about it.

  21. although i completely agree with your decision that this is to much work i still wanna

    AWWW DAMNIT

your blog was always one of the either facepalm or comedic highlights of my weekend :(

  22. Damn, it will be sorely missed. My favorite feature of the blog.

Odd, though, that this type of post takes more research and effort than an economics or philosophy feature.

  26. the funny thing is that the Paladin Arthasdk who comes up second on my list isnt all that bad. Properly gemmed and enchanted and the like.

  27. What about making a new category, namely, Q&A? Instead of answering mails/interesting comments via mail/comment, you answer through the blog.
As for the lesser view count on weekedns, could be people aren't that much on their computers and they make it up on Mondays :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. we can create a reddit to handle this ?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think a Q&A weekly post would be awesome. Maybe pick through the best 5-10 questions you got that week? I'd love that.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Is it a special type of sub-moronhood to roll a hunter and name it Arthasdk?

I will miss the morons of the week. Thanks for running it as long as you did.

  31. To the defense of many Arthasdk's: on european realms for some reason people from Denmark feel they must express their nationality in their character name by postfixing it with 'dk'. It seems to be some custom taken over from other online games, such as Counterstrike and it seems to be unique to Danish players.

Although generally this is considered to be silly and something 'mature' players would never do. But nevertheless, it doesn't mean that the Hunter Arthasdk does not know he is not a death knight. Still, naming your hunter after Arthas doesn't display much respect nor interest for the lore.

  32. Russians with a 'Rus' prefix were common for a while, and I've seen a few people who I sincerely hope were either British or Ukranian with a 'uk' postfix.

  33. Sad to see it go.

Morons of the week is how I found this blog in the first place.

I understand that it was some work for you to maintain that column for apparently little reward (low readership on weekends) but your blog is the first one I check when I come into work on Monday so I can read the weekend post. It was also the reason I recommended the blog to others.

Sorry that morons ruined it by sending in grudge requests and poorly formatted pictures.

  34. If anyone is interested in keeping the Morons and Mean guys of the week please send your specimens to "morons@moerk-mejlby.dk" and I'll post them on my newly started blog "Part-time Gamer".
