Hard transfer

The buying spree to decrease my gold amount below 20K for the transfer is not easy. The main problem is simple: the prices in the new server are significantly lower than on the old one. So if I would blindly buy up ebonweave, abyss crystals and epics, and sell them, I'd end up with 50K loss.

The secondary problem is that my buying itself changes the prices significantly. Luckily most people are simply dumb. While the listed items are in a close range of the new price, dumbs arrive and without checking the prices, list their stuff for the old price. Of course these underpriced items goes to the lucky one who finds them. So I'm mostly camping the AH.

I bought lot of eternal belt buckles and insane amount of greater cosmic essences. I also filled a bag with enchanted vellums. Luckily these scrolls stack by 5. I have 8 bags full (5 to go), and only half of the money spent. But worry not. Nothing can stop a goblinish druid.

I wonder how the server economy will change when you're gone, and how the new one will be affected by your arrival...

Should be an interesting read. :)

Easiest thing to do would be to buy Haris Pilton's 22 Slot bags at 1200g each, not equip them, and xfer with them. Then sell them at a discount for people who want to get the achievement and a big bag. I've found that people will buy them at about 1k. That fits your 1k/slot strategy perfectly. You end up losing 200g per slot, but there is always a price for doing business.

Why not just spend an extra $25 and transfer an alt with you. More bag slots and 40k gold...

try those:
- Blue Gems (scarlet ruby, twilight opal, monoarch topaz...etc)
- Frozen orbs
- Flasks
- frost lotus
- Berserk enchant on scrolls
- Dream shards
- Eternals
- Darkmoon cards / decks
- Arctic Fur
- Abyss Crystal
- Glacial Bag

Hope this helps :)

It's going to be really interesting to see you on a more progressed server.

I for one was always jealous that most of your strategies wouldn't work on my server. I can't wait to see what ways you can devise to profit on a massively populated and progressed server...

This new thread of the problems of transferring is turning out to be every bit as interesting as the old threads about making gold :)

How about using human carriers?

Find people who would like to start over in you're old server, and then do an amount for amount gold exchange with them?

You might need to work on it one by one, but i know alot of people who'd like to start over, say as horde. Find alliance people who'd like to start over in the server forums, and then use the shared AH to exchange money on stormscale. You give them 5k on the old server, they give you 5k on the new server. It might not cover everything, but it could help.

Ditch the resist gear. It's one item per slot, and the items are worth what... 500g each?

Theres ONE fight in ulduar (Hodir), that requires the TANK to have frost resist gear - healers and dps in frost resist helps, but I've certainly killed him without.

This has to be one of the more interesting parts of your blogging experience so far Gevlon. I can't even imagine how the server economy is changed by you alone. 250k gold worth of items and materials taken out!

The minipets from the Argent Tournament are going for 3-4K each on Eonar-A. You might consider slapping a few of those in your bags, depending on the relative prices, of course. I imagine that they won't sell that high for long, but I won't teach my grand-goblin to suck eggs.

Kudos to you for not spending RL money to transfer a 2nd character. You are a man of high principles.

He can't spend another $25 to xfer another character unless he has an alt that is level 70+. The gold cap on xfers is relative to your level, so a level 1 can't hold 20k gold. More like 300g for a level 10-20.

@fixee
transfer a dk, he is already at 58 or so after the starting area, which means he can carry more gold. but the real reason for transferring another character is the added bag space, not the added gold it can carry...

someone else said it in a comment to today's, or yesterday's post.

i agree, with the shear number and magnitude of mats you're dealing with, that the engineering chopper/hog is a safe bet to put ~15k per slot in transfer.

it's set at mats for 12.5k for the vendor mats. and with the shear quantity of mats you're dealing with elsewhere, you're bound to know or have a friendly engineer, skinner, and miner at your disposal. get the cobalt bolts made in bulk, get your furs ready, and stockpile your titansteel mats and buy the xmutes.

hording mats you can probably get your per bike cost down below 15k. and they sell for easily 15k on all three of my servers.

if that doesn't work, what about ink trading itself. what are the ink prices for ink of the sea vs snowfall ink on the two servers? since snowfall is set to ~10xink of the sea prices by a vendor.

You may want to consider buying Runed Orbs (if available), since they stack to 20 and, for me, have been selling for around 3k each. As more people start to want the BiS craftable gear out of 25 man Ulduar, I would expect the near-term demand for these items to be fairly stable across servers. The difficulty may be in finding people who want to sell them.

I've been thinking, what do you expect summer will do for the market? More kids playing with no school, and lots of college kids home. Hopefully business picks up, my glyph industry is just getting started...
